Paving the Way for Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area

2021-12-06 -Hong Kong

With their business being significantly affected by uncertainties brought by conditions such as COVID-19 pandemic and the China-US trade war, Hong Kong manufacturers are increasingly aware of the importance to diversify risks exposure by actively exploring the Mainland China market and accessing the Southeast Asia. In recent years, the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (the Greater Bay Area) has been accorded the status of key strategic planning in the country’s development blueprint, and local government authorities are making efforts to deepen cooperation among the three areas to facilitate deeper integration and promote synergistic economic development. In Hong Kong, the government has been vigorously advocating the re-industrialization initiative, providing subsidies to promote the upgrade and transformation of traditional manufacturing businesses with the application of innovative technologies and smart production, and encouraging the development of local high value-added industries. The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) also presents a lot of opportunities for Hong Kong manufacturers. As a leading one-stop telecommunications service provider, HKT co-organized a seminar with Hong Kong Productivity Council on 3rd December to share market insight to Hong Kong enterprises on their strategies for digital transformation and help them capitalize on the opportunities.

During the event, Mr. Tim Lam, Assistant Vice President, Product Management & Projects, China Business of HKT Limited, shared with the participating enterprises his insight on the benefits of the latest policies, as well as a number of success stories of Hong Kong manufacturers. Drawing on HKT’s extensive experience in the Mainland, Mr. Lam pointed out some challenges frequently encountered by Hong Kong enterprises when expanding their business, such as insufficient understanding of localization, unsatisfactory efficiency of cross-border communication due to slow data transmission, and the costly and time-consuming process of establishing new plants. Afterwards, He explained how HKT’s wide range of comprehensive solutions enable digital transformation of enterprises to reduce costs and improve efficiency, accelerate their business deployment, transformation and upgrading in the Greater Bay Area and Southeast Asia, and enhance operational efficiency. With its world-class service standards, and complemented by its 7x24 professional support, HKT’s one-stop application solutions help enterprises seamlessly integrate their business across Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area and Southeast Asia, allowing them to focus on core business planning without the hassle of technical issues.
