HKT addresses the demand of domestic and foreign enterprises for ICT services at the first China Int

2018-11-07 -Shanghai -The first China International Import Expo
The Grand Opening of the much-anticipated first China International Import Expo (“CIIE”) was held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Co-organized by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, the one-week event from 5th to 10th November 2018, aimed to demonstrate China’s firm support for trade liberalisation and economic globalisation. 
Enterprises from more than 100 countries and regions attended the Expo, where HKT was invited, as a leading telecommunications service provider, to debut at the Hong Kong exhibition area inside the China pavilion.
In addition to categorizing Chinese enterprises groups of provinces, autonomous regions and directly administered municipalities to purchase at the CIIE, the organizers also invited many third-country merchants to do the same. As a result, the CIIE welcomed over 150,000 professional buyers from home and abroad. The Hongqiao International Trade Forum , which was held on the sidelines of the CIIE, accompanied supporting activities such as symposiums and industry seminars. 
In his keynote speech at the opening ceremony, President Xi Jinping said, “the CIIE is the world’s first import expo held at the national level, an innovation in the history of global trade. It is an important decision made by China to pursue a new round of high-level openings-up. It is China’s major initiative to widen market access to the rest of the world, demonstratingChina’s consistent position of supporting the multilateral trading system and promoting free trade. It is a concrete action by China to advance an open world economy and support economic globalization.”
With a view to promoting Hong Kong as a trading and investment platform, the HKSAR Government actively participated in the CIIE where it set up a Hong Kong exhibition area inside the China pavilion for the National Trade Investment Comprehensive Exhibition. Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council was also invited to lead relevant companies in town to exhibit in the Hong Kong Services Zone and the Hong Kong Product Zone, showcasing the strengthens of these two sectors. 
Those companies who were engaged in a wide range of operations, including information technology, professional services  e.g. legal, accounting and management advisory), logistics, supply chain services, design, branding and marketing, fully demonstrated the overall strengths of Hong Kong’s service industry, creating abundant business opportunities for service providers and traders alike. 
As a one-stop ICT service provider in mainland China and Hong Kong, HKT presented quality solutions to domestic and foreign companies during the CIIE, showcasing its worldwide network resources and extensive service experience.

On the first day of the CIIE, Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Chief Executive of Hong Kong, visited the Hong Kong exhibition area and cordially exchanged views with staff at the HKT booth. When asked by Mrs Carrie Lam about any difficulties in business development, one of our staff said, “With such strong support from the Chief Executive and the HKSAR Government, we have every faith in our ability to provide Hong Kong’s best telecommunication products and services to more mainland-based and foreign enterprises, thereby delivering mutual development.”

As the CIIE attracted numerous visitors from around the globe, each and every pavilion witnessed a huge turnout.
